stacking headgaskets
Is it cool to stack headgaskets to lower compression? I was maybe going to try 2 headgaskets stacked in my 88 honda accord when i come around to turboing it. Ive heard it lessens the threat of detonation, like so i could run 12-14psi on an otherwise stock bottom end instead of 7-8 because id have less compression...?

Re:stacking headgaskets
Why not just purchase a head gasket that is much thicker than stock? I thought about stacking head gaskets on my d16y7/8 turbo, but it was cheaper and easier to just buy a thicker head gasket.

Re:stacking headgaskets
I would but as far as I know there is nothing available for the A20 engine except stock parts or stuff you can get made, like pistons etc. Aftermarket headgaskets and turbo manifolds dont exist... ive been looking for over a year

Re:stacking headgaskets
The only thing I couuld see that would be bad about that is blowing head gaskets. It probably won't be a very good seal. It's iffy. Especialy since you will be running a large amount of boost. I'm just not a big fan of blown head gaskets. It really sucks that nobody makes the right gasket for your car though. That damn supply and demand. >:(

stacking gaskets is a good way to make sure it leaks really bad and your car runs like ----...

Re:stacking headgaskets
Yea, i figured itd be iffy. Oh well, looks like im just gonna get either 8.5:1 or 9.3:1 compression pistons... we will see

Re:stacking headgaskets
You could also make a compression reduction plate, to stick between two head gaskets. This way the gaskets won't blow that easily.
It's cheaper than pistons, not nearly as good though. Pieter |
Re:stacking headgaskets
2 head gaskets and some red silicone sandwiched inbetween them otta fix'R up !!
You can always reduce knock with water/alocy injection.. and a bigger than normal turbo and IC.. A T-66 turbo at 10psi would get waxed by a T-76 at 10psi, its about CFM, not really boost... Big turbo, big IC, and water/alcoy shoudld leave you do'N gooD. |
Re:stacking headgaskets
You sure about the red silicone and two gasket cause I'm not into tearing apart the entire bottom end for changing a set of pistons to lower my compression. What kind of gaskets does this work on?
