sqealing belts?
 
My belts are squealing like a pig in a pig trough. how do i make the sound go away?

Your belts are just telling you they need to be tightened. which belt is it?

They will also squeal if they need to be changed

or if the motor sat and the pullys got rusted. The alternator sivels by loosening the top and lower bolts add a little more presure the belt should have about 1/4in play


The ac belt loosen the outer bolt on the ideler pully and turn the top 10mm bolt tighten would be clockwise rotation

as a note of caution, be sure to disconnect the battery before you ---- with it. i learned the hard way and grounded it out and fucked up my ignition. i used a long pry bar in between the block and the alternator and pushed on it to get the right tension. loosen the 12mm bolt on the top of the alternator that's connected to this bar that has a curved slot in it and push it back, if it doesn't go you will have to loosen the lower alternator bolt and i believe it's either 14mm or a 17mm.

go to auto zone and get a can of belt dressing for 1.29. works like ma champ
