Sometimes Solid cel, sometimes not...
Hi,
I just finished up my ls/vtec setup in my EG, running a chipped P06 converted to a P28 by Xenocron. Now sometimes, usually after resetting the ecu, I get a readable code (CEL21,vtec solenoid) but other times when I jump it I get a Solid cel. I test drove the car, and I heard VTEC engage, but I still have that shitty cel. The car is not in limp mode. Any possible reasons this is happening? I don't understand why I would get a solid cel sometimes and a code others? :S :7 ??? |
Re: Sometimes Solid cel, sometimes not...
Check you harness. I had the same problem with my hatch and found a loose wire at the ecu plug.

Re: Sometimes Solid cel, sometimes not...
Was it just a random a random wire or one that you had installed? How did you "tighten" it?

Re: Sometimes Solid cel, sometimes not...
does it run w/ the solid light or not??? i had a main relay giving me ----, and while trying to crank it w/out fuel pressure it would throw a code and give a solid CEL after a few minutes. once i resoldered the main relay i didnt have a problem ever again.
i ask because usually a solid CEL the car will still run, just really shitty, super high idle, surging, etc... |
Re: Sometimes Solid cel, sometimes not...
The car runs really well, I could hit the mad Vtak and everything! Thats what is so baffling about this prob.

Re: Sometimes Solid cel, sometimes not...
oh, i just reread what you wrote, and i misunderstood completely. my chipped ecu would do that sometimes too, p05, converted to manual and vtec added. so you get a CEL after driving it and go to pull the code and sometimes dont get a code by jumping the connector??? sounds like a soft code, how is the speedo, VSS is working right??? seems like one of my old TEGS had a similar problem and it ended up being the VSS connection was loose and would loose signal for a second (wasnt looking at the speedo when it happened i guess) and it would set a code, turn the car off, turn the key on and jump the connector and no code. i think (not 100% sure) but try cutting the car off, after you get the code, jump the connector THEN turn the key on, its been a while since i had a CEL, but it seems like a few codes would only show up that way. hell, i dont even have a honda anymore to try it.
