sohc zc with a mechanical fuel pump??

I just got sohc zc for free that I was going to put srp pistons and eagle rods in for the tprc, why does it have a fuel pump block off plate in it if it is the same as a a6? Any other differences?

I have seen a d15 wth dual carbs that we blocked off the pump and swaped a dpfi intake on but thats the only experence I have with jdm sohc ----.

the sohc zc usually came with dual sidedrafts just like the d15b

Not the same has an a6. Slightly larger camshaft/nicer valve springs

yes its basically the same as the a6. there is a blockoff plate because the mech fuel pump is ran off an extra cam lobe. with an a6 IM/TB it is essentially the exact same motor as the a6

i have the same motor, the rods and pistons both said pm6, and the head was the same pm3-9 casting as the a6. i ran it originally with an a6 IM/TB/Injectors on a pm6 ecu

My stock sohc ZC saw a few miss shifts. Like 7200rpms in 3rd and taking it into 2nd :-X I did it twice in a row at the track one day before I called it a day. That motor is still running strong. >:D

You can rev the non vtec a6 style head to whatever you feel they wont break

I used to run my SOHC ZC block up to like 8900 rpm.. its fine. ha.

Mine had a Z6 head with comp cam and valvesprings.

so wait, if i were to call a motor joint and ask for a SOHC ZC it would come with sidedraft carbs???

cuz that would be sick.

Re: sohc zc with a mechanical fuel pump??

I have a set of the carbs if anyone wants them. There are many forms of carbs that came on zc motors from jap land. Some even came with a single downdraft carb. They can be used with a weber single carb with a little work.

Impression of the carbed motors is they use to be uber cheap 125-200 bucks at importers in LA until someone decided to spill the beans that they work just like the fi units with the conversion/block plate.

This applies to many models from jap land they ran carb's until the mid 90's unlike us when we dumped them in Hondas by 1989. I also converted a nissan sentra motor that had a single downdraft to fuel injection.

The budget cars over there seemed to have any option for carbs
