sohc vtec ZC engine

I'm being offered a sohc vtec zc engine. Good deal but wnat to know more about the engine. I'm doing some research right now, one site says it's like the d16a6, d16 88-91 obd0, but some other sites say they are obd1 92-95 d15 engines. Are they both correct? just different models, years. I know Abaz(jeff) did talk about the sohc zc a long time ago, but after searching I cant find that old post. HELP :'( :'( :'(

no such thing as a sohc VTEC zc.

ask the seller to look on the front of the block beside the exhaust ports for a flat plate that will have a number/letter code stampped on it. Ask what it says d16a, ZC, d15b6 whatever. The come on here and we will tell you wehat engine it really is.

Re:sohc vtec ZC engine

I think is just a jdm d15b sohc vtec engine, and that's why he's calling it a ZC, because it's from japan

Re:sohc vtec ZC engine

ZC is referred to almost all 1.6 liter D-series engines.
But the 1.6L DOHC is most common known to be called ZC's

Re:sohc vtec ZC engine

He just told me it is stamped ZC. I will go see it and then decide. What bothers me is what ECU would I need to use. If it came off a 92-95 JDM civic, I might be able to use a P28, but if it's obd0, then maybe an si or integra ECU.

Re:sohc vtec ZC engine

It's a posibility that it's a single cam ZC bottom end with a single cam VTEC head. We ran that in our old race car. Put down 514Hp/477TQ with that combo. :)

Re:sohc vtec ZC engine

I got the engine today. He gave me the engine, transmission, axles, alternator, aem pulley set, extra fuel rail and fpr, and more for 350. The motor is stamped ZC on the block and it is a SOHC with vtec, all of the covers have japanese stickers on them. It is an original SOHC vtec ZC. I did some research and came up with the motor being OBD1 and came in the 4 door ferio(Civic) and the honda domani, from 92-95 body style. Some sites that sell the engine say it its a direct bolt on with the 92-95 civics. So I will treat the swap as if I was swapping a D16Z6. Of course never done it before so I'm back to researching what to do. I don't have a problem with the mechanical stuff, but the electric is what i need to understand before I start. First of all I have to convert it to MPFI, it's going on an 88 DX hatch, then wire up the ECU and Vtec to work. Like I said I have a 95 EX ECU that I wilol try to use, hopefully it will work.
Thanks for your help
David

PS. I will take some pictures of it later and post them.
