SOHC D16z6 automatic in a EF DX
I posted on Hondatech, but no one responded.
Ok, well first of all, please dont ask "Why an automatic?" This is for my friends mother that wants a spare car while she gets her Type S H22 in her VX hatch. My friend was in an accident last year, and she wants to finish his dream of the h22, but she needs a temporary car to use. She has a DX hatch, and she wants a little more power than 100 so i convinced her to go with a z6 or a y8 motor. Here are my questions, i plan on using the DX automatic tranny, and im currently looking for a Z6 motor for her preferably auto. I need to get an automatic ECU, and still switch to MPFI since its a DX. Im thinking that i should get a PS9 ex ecu, since its automatic, and then i can chip it to P28 maps, and then add 1 wire vtec running and all. Then im saying i can use the wiring harness from a ex also, and possibly intake manifold? Please help, this is a budget project since she needs to spend the money on the VX hatch, instead of this one. She still wants it to be quick, but nothing special. Thanks you guys, i really want to help her with this, and i need some second opinions, thanks in advanced. |
Re:SOHC D16z6 automatic in a EF DX
you wont be able to use the one-wire vtec because that uses the autotranny torque converter lock-up to activate vtec. just swap the heads, do a mpfi swap with a ps9, and get an rpm switch or something for vtec

Re:SOHC D16z6 automatic in a EF DX
Yea now i feel really dumb, i forgot about that!!
Well i think her block is bad in the dx, so im going to have to get another longblock. So the Ps9 is mpfi and i can use its harness instead of the DX, also do i need the interior harness? |
Re:SOHC D16z6 automatic in a EF DX
use the ps9 and i think you can just modify the DX harness to work. it should be mainly plug-and-play
