I just bought a Cam gear for my sohc i knew that you have to buy a woodruff key from the dealer so i called them and ask for a set of key for an h22 motor i went and got them today but they don't seem to fit on the cam gear there a littel to wide to slide in they gave honda part number 90741-657-000

is this the right key to use ?

do i have to dirve the gear in the cam with the bolt ?

 

thats the standard Honda key for a cam gear...

 

yep, $2.44 my cost, but I've seem to have lost the three I had.

Might have to lightly sand the anodizing.

Will the cam gear slide on without the key?

 

yes it does I guess i could file the gear just a littel to make it fit but i need to see what other peopel have done before i do this

 

place the gear on and tap the key in

 

I would file the 2 dollar key before filing the 150 dollar gear :1

 

yeah file he woodruff key, but make sure it wont effevt york timing any. could be problems later on down the line.
