SiR swap help

I'm going to be doing an SiR swap into my 88 dx hb as soon as I can, and I figured I'd just start up a help thread now.

first thing I need help with:

Abaz tells me that the SiR mounts won't fit into my car, so I'll get some from AZ race and machine. But will the shift linkage work? without any modification at all?

Re:SiR swap help

no u need to modify the shift linkage or buy the conversion.

Re:SiR swap help

thanks shrotyz, I won't hate on canadians anymore.

now my next question:

I was reading some crap on hasport and I'm not quite sure about the axle business. if I get a y1 tranny with intermediate shaft I'll have to do the frankenstein axle and if I get a j1 or s1 transmission I'll just need 90-93 teg axles, correct?

It sounds like u said you have the JDM SiR Shift linkage, is that true??? if so, it might work. Do a test fit before you go and modify it.

Re:SiR swap help

sorry for making you think that, I don't have it. the reason I asked like that is because I'm looking at the swap on hmotorsonline.com and it is sir and comes with mounts and shift linkage.

anybody know about those axels?

Re:SiR swap help

Save your self some money and hack your shiftlinkage yourself and weld it back together so it fits that's all HaSport does.(Measure twice cut once) or something like that. :P Of course they do a great job and take a slightly larger piece of steel tube to put over the two ends that were cut for a stonger connection. As for axels Leed and I got ours through Raxles. I know they are a little spendy but you can call them up and tell them what you have and they always have some in stock that will handle some great horsepower. Talk to Martty the owner of Raxles great guy and awesome customer service (I guesss they should be for how much they charge for the damn things) But they are great. :D

Re:SiR swap help

I've been reading about raxles. Looks like a great idea for a swap. you dont have to leave a little dust boot off like u would with teg axles and a certain tranny. you dont have to make hybrid axles. just direct fit axles. like a motor mount kit, but axles.... great idea, about time some1 started doing that.

Honda16hb 06-24-2003 11:56 AM

Re:SiR swap help

I checked out their site and couldn't find anything about those hybrid axles for my swap, do you have the exact url for those axles? or do I have to call for them?

I would just redo my shift linkage but I don't have a welder or know how to weld.

Re:SiR swap help

I got my b16a for my 91 dx hatch from hmotors online

if you get the complete swap it should come with axles..

you can also get a damn good discount on the hasport mounts and shift linkages through them (when you order the motor)

I highly reccomend hmotorsonline.com they have the cleanest motors that i have seen and they garantee all sensors to be in working order

YOU will also need to get the Hasport dx to sir wiring harness it saves a lot of wiring and also looks a lot cleaner

Re:SiR swap help

www.hmotorsonline.com is out of stock on B16As so I either have to wait or go somewhere else. The only offer the Si to SiR wiring harness cheap, the dx to SiR one is pretty expensive and I have to get it from Hasport directly. My older brother is about to buy a B16 powered 91 hatch dx so I'll just check out the wiring on that or come crying over here if I need any help.

Re:SiR swap help

I saw that you were thinking about getting your engine from HMS. Bear with me... I got a b16a from Honda Moters Online and would NOT recommend them to anybody looking for an engine inporter. They broke the valve cover pulling the engine and then when I called him he said I signed the package so I was SOL. ALSO, I asked not to have the axels but the rep reasured me the intermediate shaft was still part of the included package. Called again, they told me once that sig was on the shipping reciept, tough ----. They wont stand behind thier promises and Ive made it a point to tell anyone who asks to NOT do business with them. Sorry for the rant

Re:SiR swap help

I hate companies like that. Damn honda dealer was doing an oil change on my car and the oil filter wrench they were using hit my t-fitting for the oil press sensor and cracked it. Eventually it lost its structual integrity and started pissing oil all over my block. When I went to honda to complain, they said "proove it" more or less. and said that i was SOL. I decided to remind them that within the previous 3 months I have spend close to 2g there buying new parts and they didnt give a SH*t. I never have been back to that dealer since and I will only go there to test drive a car and then will tell them what they did to me and to go Fxxx themselves.

Re:SiR swap help

tell me more about HMO, this worries me since they are the one I'm really looking at, they get a new shipment in on july 23rd. I found a local shop that has the engine they could sell me for $2000, but that's pretty damn expensive compared to HMO for $1400.

anybody got any suggestions about where I could get this motor?

Re:SiR swap help

I got my motor from Hmotorsonline. One of the axles was blown and one was ABS and the other wasnt. The motor was in good condition and all sensors worked. I have heard they get there motors from www.Osakajdmmotors.com but that might just be a rumor. I have also heard good and bad feedback from people buying from osaka

Honda16hb 07-22-2003 11:46 PM

Re:SiR swap help

well www.hmotorsonline.com just raised their b16a sir-1 package price by 350 dollars to 1500. osaka motors is still 1050. buying ---- has me frustrated.

Re:SiR swap help

for those who care I sent money for a b16a1 on monday to kErO-916 on here.

so far I have found someone to buy a starter, alternator, distributor, ecu, and fuel pump from, and I was wondering if I need new cables of any sort, such as clutch and throttle, and if I need new ones, which ones do I need to buy?

d16forlife 07-31-2003 09:00 PM

Re:SiR swap help

Are you getting the wiring harness too?

Honda16hb 07-31-2003 09:22 PM

Re:SiR swap help

no, I'm not getting a harness unless you have one for cheap because hasport charges too much for the dx one and if I'm going to be wiring for dx-si I might as well wire up vtec while I'm at it, and the ecu I'm getting has 1 wire vtec hookup, so all I'm really having to worry about is the dpfi-mpfi convo

Re:SiR swap help

all u do is add 4 wires for dx to si and wire in the resistor, isnt that right? if not some1 correct me

Honda16hb 08-01-2003 10:12 AM

Re:SiR swap help

that's all I plan on doing, so I hope that's all that's required. anybody know how to do it with radio shack resistors rather then a resistor box? if not I'll figure it out eventually, and does anybody know about those cables?

88crxSi 08-01-2003 11:30 AM

Re:SiR swap help

i think u need 10watt 10 ohm resistors. i saw that used on a set of dsm 450c'ss... id just us the resistor box so u dont hack up injector wires.

Re:SiR swap help

whoa, ok im reading this and you are talking about, first off this motor came directly out of a 88-91 crx, the mount kit is on the motor/trans already, the rear mount is on, the axles are included, the pressure plate is an act i believe because i can see thru the starter hole and its yellow ( altho this is sacramento i know a ricer could have thought it would be kewl to paint something that would never be seen ) as far as the wiring goes for dpfi to mpfi you can call me and i will walk you thru set by step i have done this swap many of times, if your car doesnt have a si style dizzy the dizzy wiring will need to be modified also, i have seen some dx cars come with si dizzys on them, the linkage is a pro-modified b series swap linkage all you need is the shifter shaft, i have this motor crated and ready to be picked up. so if you would assitance since you are a good customer when you recieve this motor, i would be more then happy to walk you thru the swap, laterz bro.

Re:SiR swap help

If the engine came out of a JDM 89-91 Crx SIR the swap will not simply "BOLT" in a USDM 88-91 crx. the factory mounts and axles are different.

When this is going in a DX, you simply do the DPFI-MPFI swap, than add the wires for vtec/vtec solinoid and the extra o2 sensor. (if its a pr3)

Jeff

Re:SiR swap help

no im saying i pulled the motor out of someone who had already swapped it into a USDM car, the motor is JDM. but i should clarify myself more clearly next time, sorry for the misunderstanding.

Re:SiR swap help

allen, are you back in town yet? I called you yesterday and no answer and no pm returns so far. I need to weld the shift linkage back together, right? it looked broken in half. Also, the starter has a broken bolt hole, it looks like it will still work, but I just wanted to let you know. Do I use my rear mount? because it's just the bracket on there and no mounts, there are mounts on the sides though.
