Default setting TDC and putting the head back on ???

ok...its down to this point were im puttin the head back on the motor during its rebuild stage...i got my head gasket and i need to know how to set the motor back to TDC so when i go to start it i wont have bent valves...the motor is a B18A1 and i cannot get the crank bolt loosened still...that ****** wont come off at all...so im gonna take a dremel tool and just cut a fine line in the casing around the pulley and when im all done bolt it back up and it should be fine with a real small fine line in it...but anywho....how the hell do i set it back to TDC on the crank and on the cam gears ??

lewis

anyone with B series engine experience would be really appreciated...

thanks

There should be marks on the cam gears. I'm not exactly sure how they go on a DOHC, but on mine they had to line up with the top of the head and the other mark was on top of the gear. You could also spin the cam until it gets to open the number one cylinder intake valves.

the camgear marks gotta go upward. after you have the timing belt on spin the crank a few times to make sure it doesnt bind up, that way you know you arent hitting valves

Cam gear marks align flush with the valve cover, and the 2 inner marks align with each other... On some B-series if you remove the valve cover you have a pin hole you can put a 5mm drill bit/allen wrench in to align the cams dead on. It goes through the end of the cam cap on cylinder #1.
