Go ------ rip it, a few good puls from 10-60

Dont hold an rpm for to long, dont cruise around

Seriously go out and do some accelerating

i was told to do something like that to keep it in like 3rd and accelerate from 30 to 80 and kepp doing it a few times or someshit like that

If you're building a motor for boost do you break it in with boost?

Best bet is to get into 3rd gear and do a pull up to around 5-6k rpms and let the engine slow the car down...do it a few times and you should be good.

Boost isn't required to break a future turbo engine in. You can break an engine in under boost, but you really really really need to have a little tuning experience under your belt to make sure you aren't too rich/lean.

Agreed. I highly reccomend people that are going to be boosting a fresh new motor to just leave it n/a for the break in. Less chances of things going wrong.

Thank you, answered my question. Also, i've heard of guys rubbing ATF on the cyl walls before assembly to insure the rings seal properly, any truth to this?

ATF, motor oil, it doesn't ------- matter. It's a few seconds worth of break-in lube until regular oil starts flying around in the crankcase, and nothing more.

A local kid built a B20 and didn't lube his wristpins... had to crank on it for a couple minutes running rough on 1 and then 2 cylinders because he had some stuck injectors when he went to fire it up and break it in. Long story short, all the wrist pins are a little galled, but those two cylinders that were running the engine at ¬200-300 rpms ended up with wristpins/pistons destroyed.

Amazing what a little lube does, right?

I think you misunderstood the question, obiously lube the hell out of anything that moves that could have contact, but what I ment was I've seen people rup ATF on the cyl walls to help the rings seat properly, the atf is a high detergent properties so the rings and cyl walls can grind on each other for a few seconds to help the microscopic imperfections in the surfaces to almolst "sand on each other" helping the rings form a better seal.

how about just leaving your WG open ? i have one of those ebay turbo that came internally gated but im running an external gate. so if i just left the flapper open it wouldnt really see any boost. maybe like 3-4psi at like 7k in 4th gear. lol

Because if you have assembly lube or somthing with too good of lubrication properties on the cyl walls the rings wont wear in properly, thats why they say not to run synthetic on a fresh motor. It was a question, The only motor's i've rebuild were a coupple pos 5 hp briggs, the z6 i'm working on now is a new experience, same basic steps and principles but this thing will have the living ---- beat out of it so I want it perfect.
