SAFC... what is it doing?
Hey, I just thought up this question, but the SAFCs... How do they increase fuel or lean out?
Do they use adjustable resistors to trick the ECU into adjusting it?
Just curious, I might end up building my own half-*** one.

Maybe I'm thinking too simple here, but if you tried to make your own you'd have to have some way to change the voltage signal at different rpms/throttle conditions, etc. correct? If you just changed the signal all the time...you wouldn't gain much flexibility. With an afc it takes into acount your throttle position, actual map sensor voltages, andyour rpm. You wouldn't want the same fuel cruising at 3500 rpm as you would want when the pedal is on the floor and your racing, Let me know what you think...maybe you've already got all this figured out.
At which point. The VAFC makes adjustments as fast as the computer in the car using logic circuits that monitor certain aspects of the engine at the run level. It will monitor fuel curves and will adjust the map sensor voltage and VTEC engagement point and respond to what the computer is doing. Also it allows you to play with fuel curves and your throttle response. Its just cheaper and less of a headache and buck up and buy one. JMO..
