Reusing Head Bolts
Everyone tend to lean towards my HeadGasket be my overheating problem so I might try slapping another one on today. Is it possible to re-use my DOHC ZC Head bolts if I'm just slapping a new gasket in?

Re: Reusing Head Bolts
possible yes, recommended no. Ive reused my arp's a couple times but never a set of stock bolts.

Re: Reusing Head Bolts
i wouldn't. the only time i've blow a head gasket was when i reused stock head bolts (had the head off for other reasons), replaced them with some arp's and a new hg (of course) and never had a problem again, even on much higher boost than the first one blew on, not to mention if you blow the hg again just b/c you tried to save money on bolts, you're really not saving money b/c you have to buy another hg and take the time to replace it again :-\

Re: Reusing Head Bolts
I'm going for ARP's. Turns out they weren't too hard to find in my small town.
149.00 CAN and will be in tomorrow. I have to drive 45min to pick them up, but I'll grab a Good toque wrench from my bro-in-law on the way home. |

Re: Reusing Head Bolts
you can safely get 2 uses out of your stock bolts unless they are torque to yield bolts. i have reused mine twice on the motor thats in my car right now with no problems!!!

Re: Reusing Head Bolts
How hard is it to install the ARP head bolts anyways? Any machine shop required?
