Retarted oil pressure gauge
I installed my autometer oil press gauge, and I hooked it up to the sender. It reads 100 psi at idle, then goes down to 70-50 psi when I drive. This is clearly some nagger business. I thought I switched the wires, and I put them the other way...it would read 10000psi and go slightly lower at higher rpms. SO I switched back. What can be wrong with the sumbitch?

:S
I don't remember who I bought it from on here, btu soemthing tells me that would'nt help. :-\ |
Re: Retarted oil pressure gauge
probably wouldnt, was it used? if so i'd say you got ripped off. Check your connections again.

Re: Retarted oil pressure gauge
USed gague, brand new sender. What connection error could lead to this? It lights up, moves to 0 when turned off, moves to 100 when turned on, etc.

Re: Retarted oil pressure gauge
i have no idea, but it seems like the right thing to do. :P

Re: Retarted oil pressure gauge
Went through everything, still shows like 100 psi at idle, 60 psi or so cruising in gear. The 60 psi seems resoanble, but I guess somehting is wrong with it. How much psi should my poor turbo be subjected to? After the sensor, I am running 4an lines, like the old stealthmode kits. Should not be a problem, right? :6

Re: Retarted oil pressure gauge
if your return line is okay. i dont see any reason to need a restrictor. if its not smoking now you'll be ok! 60 seems about right for crusing. 100 at idle is definatly incorrect. although 60 seems high for an ls

Re: Retarted oil pressure gauge
Yea, Ill live with it though. At least I'll be able to tell something is wrong if it ever dips below 50psi. :P

Re: Retarted oil pressure gauge
is the sender the same brand as the gauge?
|
Re: Retarted oil pressure gauge
if u used teflon tape then it mite not be getting a ground... a long shot but the sender uses the oil line and block as its ground. double check it...

Re: Retarted oil pressure gauge
I have the same problem. and mine is new. I looks like there is air in the lines because I can see it through the plastic line the gauge came with. But once I start to drive around the pressure goes to where it is supposed to be. I think as long as it reads that you have oil pressure, you should be good.
