Removing Engine Without Removing Tranny???
I basically have a tranny bolted up to a blown block, in the EF, I was wondering if it is possible to remove just the engine block out of the engine bay without having to remove the tranny, axles, linkage, you know all that time consuming ----.
Anyone ever done this???? |
Re: Removing Engine Without Removing Tranny???
possible only if it is an automatic, i don`t think there is enough room to clear the input shaft

nearly impossible to install the new engine wihtout taking the tranny out
|
Re: Removing Engine Without Removing Tranny???
is that for EFs only? cause I just did a dc2 teg engine only swap and saved me alot of time! Ive done it on my del sol also

Re: Removing Engine Without Removing Tranny???
i tried on a crx once and couldnt do it, maybe it is just an ef thing. i pulled just the tranny on my eg with no problems, but havent tried just the engine
|
Re: Removing Engine Without Removing Tranny???
the first time i did it i pulled just the engine but i soon figured out thats it soooooooo much easier to just take everything out and then put everything back all in one piece.
axles and shift linkage, thats not a lot of work. imo |
Re: Removing Engine Without Removing Tranny???
Well I tried what you want to attempt and let me say this, Just pull it with the tranny.I spent 5 hrs trying to ank an engine at the junk because I wanted to leave the tranny in. The PS pump, alternator, and upper motor mount dont give enought clearence to pull the engine to the right enough to drop the engine alone. Trust me we even tried lifitng the car with a fork lift and jiggling it.

Re: Removing Engine Without Removing Tranny???
Sometimes taking off the harmonic balancer will give you enough room to get a motor out.
|
Re: Removing Engine Without Removing Tranny???
you can get the motor without the tranny out of the bay in an EF without takeing anything off, its just a bitch
pull the tranny, you'll thank yourself later |
Re: Removing Engine Without Removing Tranny???
i can pull just the motor out and have a new one in about 3 and a half hours and if you don't beleve try me
|
Re: Removing Engine Without Removing Tranny???
Never thought it was really hard to remove the linkage, shafts and everything. Takes like 20mins.
|
Re: Removing Engine Without Removing Tranny???
