Removing engine?

Right,

I ve taken everything off engine that needs to be, i just want to know from experience is there a certian way that the mounts have to come off?

Do u take out the long bolt that goes through the mount or the bolts with the spikes on them that attach to the body??

Also i dont have a engine lift so i was thinkin that a couple of us could just lift the car up over the engine? would this be possible?

well it depends on how you want to remove the engine. if your gonna pull it just take out the bolts that run through the mounts and maybe even the front motor mount so you dont hit radiator as its comming out(thats if you take out the radiator). also make sure you have the right amount of slack in the chain when you pull it so the engine will tilt the way you want it.(usualy tilted to go down on the passengers side more, and tilted up more on the drivers side ;)

i have never dropped the engine from underneath the car so i couldnt give you an exact way to that. only thing i can think of is just make sure nun of the mounts will get into the way of hitting the fram. such as the drivers side mount and front and rear mounts....
im sure you could just lift the car up with some of your buddies if you have to

not to bash, but lifting the car "over" the engine is the dumbest thing that i have ever heard of, if you try it, your stupid. save some money, or even ask your mom and rent an engine hoist.

to take out your motor, do as crx2fast said and leave some slack in the chain. by the way, you take out the bolts holding the engine to the nount, then the bolt holding the mount to the body(i think...someone correct me)

if you have a lift/jack capable of lifting the car high enough, IT IS EASIER AND MORE PRACTICAL to drop the engine! just drop it on a pallet and slide it out from underneath. if not, just rent an engine hoist.

this is how us ppl in the ghetto do it, just jack the car up high as ---- then put a peice of wood on the jack and put it under the engine and remove the last motor mounts and lower it. Then just slide it out an your done

Actually most shops drop the car onto the engine but they have lifts. It's much easier in my opinion but for the home guy by a engine lift. If you have the cash just buy one instead of renting they run around 200 bucks at harbor freight. Good invetment.

Re:Removing engine?

this is how i do

take mounts off from left to right
raise the front of the car until the engine has enough room to be slid past the crossmember

remember to use at least 2 jacks and lots of cinderblocks(sp)
