real low compression..

i just got a head built for my birthday...this guy knows what hes doing! i bought a new head gasket put it all back together..and now the compression is real low...what the hell is wrong its 90 30 90 45 they should be closer together it wont even pop over to start but is getting gas and spark maybe the cam gear is off a tooth or two? um i have a turbo setup on it and it overheated once before because of a crappy radiator but still ran just with some smoke i have a feeling it might be the rings it just wont run the pistons looked fine when i put them in and the walls were smooth?? its frusterating!! i have a 96 civic ex obviously its a y-8 anyone have any suggestions ?

Those number are crap. The car started and had good compression before right?

wait so, before it overheated and you drove it like that? That's not good. that could could or really fucked up ----. ahh, so after it overheated you replaced the rings? Was the bore within spec? bore/hone? somethings def. fucked with the head if it was fine before

ok the car is a y-7 with a y-8 head it was running before i was letting my friend drive it to see how quick it was and it started overheating so i told him to stop...we pulled over shut the car off turned it back on 20 minutes later drove to a near by gas station and got some coolant the radiator was fucked but still held coolant but wouldn't flow well so i went home the next day tried starting the car and it smoked so i thought the rings were fucked over high heat well i put alittle oil in it cuz it looked low and drove to school after i got there it sounded like ---- and stalled so i thought i seized something so i took the head off and the head lost oil pressure and froze where the bearing was so i bought a new y-8 head it had 4 bent valves when i got the new one (GRRR mother fucker) it so i replaced them and it still showed low compression so i was pissed off and had my sisters boyfriend work on the head and he does it for a living so its worked over and i put the head on last night the compression sucks its getting fuel spark andeverything the pistons looked fine but maybe the rings are bad? any suggestions

Do a wet compression check, put a few drops of oil in each cyl before checking its compression. If you get better compression its the rings.

Or do a cyl leakage test. You will hear where your compression is escaping from.

If your engines timing if off it could cause low compression and a no start situation.

from your compression numbers it doesnt look like it would be a headgasket.

Does kinda sound like cam timing, or a combo of cam timing and toasted rings :-\

did you get the head decked when it was off??? start w/ the simple ---- and check ur timing first, if that checks out the head's comin off again

its a brandnew headgasket...and the heads brand new...i started to use feeler gauges and the valve lashes are off a bit or something cuz two of the cyl went up number 1 and number 3

its either timing or whoever put in your valves is an idiot
highly doughtful its the rings, maybe if the ringlands are blown
