Was ready to do a D series turbo setup when I got a better offer.. Help please
 

I had it all set up to dive into a D series project when my buddy called me up that I havent spoken to in over a year. He rolled his Jdm H22A powered EG when he was drunk one night 2 years back and just called me to see if I knew anyone that wanted it.. The body is no good but it has full interior minus seats, Hasport wiring, Hasport mounts, Tokico 5 way adjustable struts with RS*R springs, full apexi exhaust, and a wet nitrous kit that was installed and used one time. ACT clutch and flywheel also. He told me 1700 bucks come get it. I just happen to have a 93 SI that everything would go into. This seams like a good deal, everything still runs fine and I drove the car back before it was rolled, its a solid setup.

Anyway, my reason for making this post is to ask what this engine would be like in my EG SI? Is it worth it to swap everything over to my car or should I go D-series turbo? Right now I have an LS swap with GSR tranny and bolt ons...
What numbers can I expect to run at the track on motor (H22) and how do H series motors compare to a B16? I am new to H series motors so any advice is appreciated.

H-series are the big blocks of honda engines, and make lots of nice torque. Adds a bit more weight to the front of the car than is desired, but who cares if you do go that route.


For perspective purposes though, with the money you'll spend buying a beaten on H-series you can do a low-budget d-series boost build and still make more power. Or go one step better and just boost the stock LS you have in there right now for very little dinero.

Personally, I don't think H's are a good swap for a civic. You can make good power for much cheaper with D's and B's which are bolt in engines. Boost what you got and your wallet will like you more than if you went H series.

I really like h22's in a civic if you just want a stock honda motor for reliabilaty and some pep. they run well you can get a low 14 quarter time and they're torque monsters for an NA car.

I wouldn't boost one anymore. Ive just heard to much talk from very reliable sources saying that they have issue with handling power starting with bad sleeves that don't accept forged pistons and oil pump problems even crank problems that actually cause he oiling issues.
This is comes from non of my personal experiance just what Ive heard from peoples who's opinions I take seriously.

But I love em stock in a civic. But I'm also used to under steer and having to set the front end of a car up before diving into a corner then quickly freeing up the car and setting up for the next curve. the extra weight up fron will hurt handling..but it's not bad. you just get used to it and adjust your driving style.

LS's love boost and are really cheap to build..I'd got that route over a built d.

get the H and boost it.

I wouldn't pay 1700 for his hunk of scrap metal though. You should offer less. Car has been sitting for 2 yaers. 1700 is a premium

an H22 in a EG is fun, i had one about a year and a half ago or so

but for what you would spend on the H i would just build the D

if you plan on boosting either engine, D-series will save you headaches and money in the long run

only do the h if u want all motor, otherwise stay on your current goal.

H sounds cool but get expensive real quick vs. d shitload of parts cheap everywhere.

i just could never watch 1700 leave my hand at one time :'( you can build a d for what $500 that can put down double the power
