Re-Using Timing Belt?

I put a new timing belt on a the beginning of the sseason and ran it for only 4-5 month. Probably lucky to have even seen 15,000KM. With my re-built Am I safe to still use it. I know they are only like 50.00 but thing are starting to add up.

I'd rock it if there were no cracks but I'm cheap and therefore biased.

I know the small ---- nickles and dimes you to death, but then think of it this way...

Do you really want the fate of your engine resting on a 50 dollar part that is easy to replace?

if the motor comes out, a new timing belt goes on. autozone goodyear gator timing belt is 34 dollars for a b16a. prob cheaper for you.

t-belt, water pump, oil pump, tensioner, rear main seal all this ---- should be done if the motor is out.

Should I trust a AutoZone Brand Belt? Ya I get the parts from Napa/CarQuest at discount because of our business, but the timing belt I fiqure I should get at Honda along with the bearings and head gasket.

Water Pump? It too has only 4 months on it!

Re: Re-Using Timing Belt?

Replace the belt. Do it while its out of the car, I know it doesnt have much mileage but doin t belt motor outside of car equals easy. I get to do a motor swap on a customers car for the typical laggin on the belt next week.

Re: Re-Using Timing Belt?

I would just get a belt from Napa etc.No need to pay more at Honda.Any Goodyear,Gates etc belt is more than good enough.

if it is 4 to 5 month new i`d rock it, but check every singal tooth on the belt and make sure there are no crack.
