Default Question about Rack and Pinion

1992 Civic CX, manual steering

So I hit a curb going about 40mph....sounds like I busted something INSIDE boot and now it creaks when I crank the wheel, and is definetly shaky while trying to drive (feels like the feeling of lugnuts that arent tight, driving on snow, etc)

The PLASTIC PIECE that fits between the actual bar and the rack and pinion snapped in half, and I pulled that out since it wasnt going to do anything all busted.

Question: Is it seen here? What is it called? My friend (tech at Acura) said it was impossible to diagnose whether I'd need a new rack and pinion until a correct piece is put in there. Seems kind of like a bushing or something (but its PLASTIC).

WTF does it look like? Was it driving? I doubt it needs to be replaced. An alignment, wheel balancing, and maybe a tie rod end and that's about as much damage as I can see it doing.

I ran over a curb dead on at around 60 in a skid(don't drink and drive) and didn't bend any suspension parts. The frame, fenders, hood, rims, radiator, A/C, and motor mounts were fucked, but the suspension was all good.

Figured it out, thanks. had to replace the whole Rack but its driving fine now. The inner socket was literally CRUSHED into the metal bar part. I was ------- lucky, I had driven around like that for a couple days !

LOL....I hydroplaned and hit the side railing/curb going about 40mph on a busy highway (thankfully no traffic). I hit the front passenger side (fucked up the rack then) and swung 180 style and hit the rear (new lower beam + hub + LCA in the back)

The rear is finally fixed -- we had to reweld a new beam on and ---- . The rack is TOAST -- sorry no pics of that...we mounted it at my friends shop lol.
