question about CTR pistons in Ls/Vtec

hey guys I was wondering if anyone would happen to know what kind of compression ratio Civic Type-R pistons would give me in my LS/VTEC setup, I dont have the money to go boost and wanted to have some fun with NA for the summer since I am re-building the engine over this winter, Also what C/R is TOO HIGH to run 93 octane pump gas.... this is my weekend racer and street warrior.. but it is also my daily driver and CANT afford race fuel every day, any info on this or maybe a link to a sight where the info can be found would be GREATLY appreciated. As alwayse thanks again guys

you'd be around 12:1 comp., which is fine for 93 octane gas, but you don't want to go much higher than that with out higher octane.

score some ctr cams also then

thats cool, 12:1 should make her run a bit faster than the roughly 9.5:1 it's got now. Also as a side point... I have heard talk that for every point of compression that you gain you will pick up about 18-20 Hp, so I was just wondering if this is true? Thanks teg

for the price's I have seen on CTR cams compared to the gains they make I'd probably just end up picking up a set of aftermarket cams

No, I would say thats pretty in-accurate.

Compression gains alone are far from outrageous. Compression is needed in all motor applications due to cam design and headwork to take adavantage of the better flowing head

So if your saying that it won't pick up that much of a horsepower gain from the compression(18 Hp per C/R) Then what would you say would be a honest and reasonable gain with the CTR's and a nice DC 4-1 header over the stock header and compression?

A good header will make more power than a 1 point in compression change on a stock motor
