Default quench area in y8 head

so i really want a z6 head because if doest have the quench area like the y8 head but i cant seem to find a bare on for less than 80 dollars witch is a good price i guess but i dont have the 80 dollars to get it. so really my question is wat do u guys think about havin the machine shop to remove it when i get a port job. but it looks pretty easy to mess up. im not sure thus the reason i am asking. i'll search some pics of hte y8 and z6 head to compare to.
here is the combustion chamber on the y8 notice that it is pretty small and not round

now lookin at them together like that there not that much different but you can see the advantages of the z6 combustion chamber. on reason i want to get the z6 head is because of timing issues. i cant run enuff lol

There is no timing issue. If you have the gear to tune your engine so it isn't going to blow up, holy ---- you just yank a few more degrees out of the Y8 head.

If anything the quench pads enhance effective octane; the head may want you to run less ignition timing because the burn propigates faster through out the chamber, but you are less likely to detonate and can make more power for a given octane fuel before tapping against knock limit. Or that's the theory, anyway.

yea i have the gear to tune. so in theory the y8 head is better because of the quench area. well thats fine then. thanks jd

In theory, yeah, but as far as I care Z6 and Y8 are just as good as the other... good for A6 to poop on, that is.

so the a6 is the way to go. i was thinkin teh same thing but i would still have to source one from somewhere. if i didnt happen to find one could i use my valves and springs from my y8 in it?
it would also need porting to flow like the vtec heads or no?

I love the d16a6 head. Miss gears and remove rev limiter for fun
