obd-1 or obd-0 ?

there are no hoses associated with the vss.

the clutch switch is what allows the car to start only when the clutch is in, it is located on the pedal mounting assembly (behind the clutch pedal obviously).

The VSS isn't in the tranny on the OBD0. It works of the speedo cable.

i thought it was the unit that the speedo cable went into, because what i am talking about is the thing that the speedo cable goes into on the back of the tranny

88's didn't have a clutch switch

the thing on the tranny is for speed sensitive power steering......your VSS is on the back of the gauge cluster, driven by the speedo cable.

It's a simple switch that lets the car know if the clutch is in, or out. It doesn't give a ---- how fast it may or may not be moving (vss) or any other gay ---- you are trying to ---- with. If it thinks the clutch is in (clutch switch fucked up or bypassed) then the key will crank.
