Prelude Problem
Ok my friend has an 89 prelude si, and he snapped the timing belt. He threw a new one on but it runs like ---- and we figure it bent a valve or 2. My question is can he get a head off any B-series engine since it's a B20a5? Or does he have to get a head off of another B20a5..

Re: Prelude Problem
if im thinkin right, its not compatable with other b series, that b series is in its own boat, kinda like the jdm b20 accord motor.

Re: Prelude Problem
I think that motor is a bastard, he needs a head off, the same thing.
on an other note, are you sure yall did the belt right |

Re: Prelude Problem
yeah but would a snapped timing belt cause crank walk? Yeah i was wondering if his B was similar to the older DOHC D motors and how they're different from the newer SOHC D's. I'm pretty sure he did everything right cause my other friend was talking to him about it and he's done at least 10 timing belts....

Re: Prelude Problem
If I'm not mistaken the crank rotates and the belt breaks and thusly now the camshaft(s) rotate at differant rates then the crank itself. Now - out of time. See though, when that usually happened on DSMs they had SERIOUS problems. Broken valves in the cylinder. :-X Hmmm, sounds more out of time, and I doubt crank walk because from what I have heard/learned crank walk is NO JOKE.

Re: Prelude Problem
i thought crank walk was horizontal play of the crank moving back and fourth... guess i was mistaken?
