which prelude motor
i might be picking up this 95 prelude si with a possible bad motor, t-belt install gone wrong, worst case im gona need a new motor, plan turbo it if i keep it, its has a h23, my un-educated guess would tell me this motor would be better to boost, lower compression, more displacment, who needs vtec, or should i spring for a h22
also how much have any of you paid for shipping on a long block from hmotors to the midwest |
Re: which prelude motor
depends on the price
|
Re: which prelude motor
Throw an F series in it and boost the crap out of it, cheap and easy ;D
|
Re: which prelude motor
ya i thought of that, will the h23 trans bolt up to the f22? i think it does
|
Re: which prelude motor
Pretty sure most of the stuff if not everything is interchangeable between H and F
|
Re: which prelude motor
Get and f22 a block, put your h23 head on it, then boost the ---- out of it. f series loves boost.

so is it a direct swap on there? i heard some of the non vtec f-head flow better then the vtec f series heads, and the h23 intake manifold is good on them |

Re: which prelude motor
ya i always thought of boosting an h23, it seems like a "big" ls motor kinda, lower compression, no vtec, dohc, but i dont ever hear to much of them making alot of power
|
Re: which prelude motor
because people just dont ---- with h23's really.
they go for that vtak ----. |
Re: which prelude motor
for your normal run of the mill hmt build it realy doesnt matter. h22 is gangsta but h23 are floating around junkyards everywhere importers sell them for dirt cheap too 450-650 is street value
|
Re: which prelude motor
actually, you'll be lucky to find an h23 for that cheap. Importers sell those bitches for over 800, without the tranny. I have tho, come across quite a few deals from regular joe's that dont want the h23 b/c they swapped for the vtakness of the h22.
If you can get your hands on a JDM F22B DOHC, then get it. It's pretty much the same thing, only .1 less liters and like 4tq less. it has cast iron sleeves, same as any other f22. I have yet to see a sleeve crack on one of these. Hell, some guys forged piston melted(caused by boost spike) at 400whp and the sleeves were still fine. with some cams and tuning, an h23/f22b dohc will own an h22. I kept up with a bone stock h22 cb7 against my f22b dohc, tuned cb7. :S |
