pls help car running like crap...
 

hey ive got a 89 dx civic w/the mpfi swap,97 d16y7,1990 crx si ecu,mpfi,and ecu.when i drive it and mash it i 1st the car bogs,has no trq and wont run right till 3-4 grand,and then at that time the cel comes on and tells me the o2 is bad.well ive put 3 diff. ones on it,ran a shielded wire from ecu to o2. i have also replaced the dist cap, rotor button,fuel filter, and plugs and wires. ive checked everything i can think of and am stumped..PLS HELP!! :-\ sorry so long ;D

Check the timing and the fuel filter(s).

i replaced the fuel filter on the fire wall..and timed it ..looked for vac leaks, ran injector cleaner threw it,double checked wiring, and grounds still no luck

i had thought about that but never swaped it..... i used the one from my dx dist. ???why would it run good at higher rpms if that is bad tho ???..ill swap it out tho

...if u nail the gas at idle when sitting still the car will bog at 1000 rmp then slowly build up till like 2500 or so then rev really fast like it should...and the car is also running rich(obviously cause the o2 sen wont work right..but thats the prob i dk why) :'(

it could be too lean too, if it is perhapse the fuel pump is going out. are your spark plugs fouled?

true i was having some slight detonation(it was backfiring threw the intake slightly) but it only does that at low rmp when its there all bogged down....d15 ran fine with pump but mpfi would take more fuel so sense im planning on turboing it if i ever get it to run right ill just up grade with a new one the plugs were black carboned up except for the top where they were white

my car used to do that, i changed my fuel injectors and car ran great, SAME symptoms.

Hmmm, bogs low and okay up top....Think its worth a look to see if your Cam timing is a 'tooth' or two off.

if you are using the 90 si ecu you probably should have a resistor box in there. Borrow a friends and try if possible.

i ckecked the timing and it is right on.this car is burning so rich it burnes ur eyes and just wont take gas befor like 3 grand or so im thinking diff injectors,but i thought 88-91 injectors were the only ones that needed an injector box

So, you have high impedence injectors in your low impedence setup? I wonder why it is running bad? ::) :P

Your car is an 89 CRX which uses low impedence injectors. You have a 90 ECU in it which also uses low impedence injectors. You have 97 injectors in it which are high impedence and also OBD2(not too sure if that would cause this problem). Change your injectors. Throw the old set in that came with the CRX.

wellthanks for the help guys im gonna try another set of obd 2 injectors, and then if that dosent work ill do the 88-91injectors with the resistor box let u know thanks

dont get ANYMORE ODB2 injectors thats your problem right there get injectors from a 88-91 CRX si dont waste money and ignore what everyone here is telling you, you will just get frustrated and ---- away your money. And make sure you get the resistor box if you dont have it.

use 88-91 Si injectors. If you are really set on pissing away 100 for MORE obd2 injectors you can just paypal it to me instead, save you from having to leave your house ;)

im getting ready to switch to a set of obd0 injectors,but i have a dumb question ;D if 88-91 injectors are low impedence, and obd1 and 2 anre high impedence, what does the resistor box on 88-91's do... raise the impedence ??? or it does and just not enough to egual obd 1 or too ??? ??? ???

...if impedence =resistance than obd0 injectors use a resistor box to raise the resistance ???right ???.and sense obd1&2 are already high impedence or resistance than they dont need a resisitor box ??? ???.........

The resistor box lowers the resistance.

no im still trying to find injector clips.... my buddy that works on hondas thinks this is stupid so ill let u guys rip on me a little to...could my alternater just be putting out enough to ceap the bat. charged enough to start the car but not put out enough "juice" to fire everything,my grandpa had a pontiac ;Dthat did the same thing and it was the alt. ???

If the battery has enough power to start the car it should have enough to keep it running, especialy with the alternator putting out at least a little. Although things are weird sometimes. You never know when you are dealing with computers and electronics. Take it to Checker, Auto Zone and have them check the alternator. Ya never know. :-\

i put it on the checker at advanced and it was right on the boarder line of being bad but those checkers could be off a little ??? but a hundred bucks is a little to much for me to just go buy one on a hunch..im gonna try to talk them into throwing a new one from the back and see what it puts down

Right on the border line? :-\ Hmmmm....I think the ECU needs a certain voltage to function properly. Your hunch might be right.

it said 13.6 on the checker..i thought 13.8 was what u needed, and when u rev it up ther alt would spin faster therefor making more volts i think it says like 14-15 in the manualwas normal?? my gpas pont. was doin almost the same thing but it kept throwin the map code well a new one of those and a comp. he tried the alt. and it was it ..but i just dont 100% trust those checkers dk why :P

heres why i dont like those alt. checkers at az ,and advanced >:( i go to az and have them check the alt it puts out 13.6 i go to advanced and its barley puttin out 13v ::)hmmmm sounds like az has there machine rigged a little :o.. the good news i guess was that i got an alt from my buddy that he knew was good and it put out right below 14v. so if honda says that 13.15.1 volts is normal...just wander if there machine could be off a little.well anyway im putting new gaskets on it and a new seal on the iacv and hopefully that will fix it .one thing i dont understan in the honda etm its says to check out put (amps) and make shure they are within specification when voltage is inbetween 13.9and 15.1 but the chart has 13.5 v as the constant and thats what it is shoowing the amp out put for

ok i finally got and put in a set of non obd injectors and a resisitor box,and the car runnies perfect ;D it has good low end torque,and no longer spits sputters or throws code one,i know i deserve a lot of told-u-so's :-\ but hey my buddy had this setup work for him(obd2 injec)why we dont know why,and when this question was asked on honda tech a guy told me it would work but anyway i/he was wrong and the people that told me to use non obd injectors were right.but anyway my car runs good now and im happy :D now comes the good part booooost 8) thanks
