piston to valve
whats the proper way to check piston to valve clearance using play dough/putty?
I just finnished the bottom end of my ls/vtec setup. and now I want to check the piston to valve clearance the head was milled .40 over, and the block was milled .10, and I am using stock headgasket thickness, please whatever info ya'll have, should I filled the valve refeifs with putty or, just a small spec? |
Re: piston to valve
If all you are doing is checking to see if your valves are going to hit your pistons at all, just put a thin layer of putty on top of your piston. Put the head on, and turn the crankshaft through 2 full revolutions. After you take the head off, you can see if your putty got super squished in some areas.
As far as measuring the exact clearance, I'm not sure how to do that with putty. You can certain try to measure the thicknesss of the putty but I'm not sure how accurate you could get. |
Re: piston to valve
if you dont see piston through the putty your golden
