Pilot bearing FROZE on input shaft... *HUGE PICS*
I put my new motor in my 240sx (KA) and after a couple hundred miles the clutch stopped engaging and everything just basically was completely fucked.
I decided to drop the tranny only to find it would not come off.. like any more than a half inch. I even tried using a comealong with a chain hooked from my tow hook to the tranny. Still nothing Finally I said ---- it and busted out the sawzall and oxy acetalyene and went to town. When I finally got the tranny out, I found that it was the pilot bearing frozen on the input shaft. Looking back, I don't think I put grease on the end of the input shaft.. could that have done it? I just really don't want to repeat this problem again because trannys aren't that cheap. http://www.theportablecio.com/alex/clutch2.jpg http://www.theportablecio.com/alex/clutch1.jpg http://www.theportablecio.com/alex/oldtrannystuf.jpg http://www.theportablecio.com/alex/outside%20window.jpg |

Is it just a plain bearing?
Bring it to a machine shop and get a thou or 2 taken off. |

ya.. turns out this motor was an auto and i forgot to change the bushing to a manual one... this is what happens... expensive learning curve, but definitley a do once.

You should try to source a ball bearing to go there. A bushing is just asking for trouble. |
