Ok, I have posted this before and some people don't believe it, or have just questioned the existance of that engine. As I've said before it comes from the JDM 4dr civic(ferio), the CRX del Sol, and the honda domani, we don't get this one here. It looks just like a d16z6, but it is stamped ZC on the block and the vtec letters on the valve cover are different.

By the way while doing the Oil pan for my HMT, I saw a stamp in the block, under the oil pand that said P28 , but i've seen it rated @ 130ps-137ps, what the hell is a ps, I dont't knwo for sure, I imagine Hp. So i't a little more powerful than the usdm z6.

the power rating could be 1 of 2 things. or maybe both.


1. Different types of measurements. actually are same HP.

2. It is a little more powerful due to JDM fuels and tuning of the ecu.

 

Ahh, thats the first SOHC ZC Vtec I've ever seen... I knew they existied, just never saw pics. I would imagne they are slightly more powerful than the USDM Z6.

what kinda ecu are you running?

 

I'm using a PM6 with a "mugen" chip. I'm sure it's just a cheap ebay chip, it was already installed when I got it. I'm looking into ghettodyne to get a better chip made. For Vtec it's connected to a shift light. That's definately something I need to look into now that it is turbo. There was someone here that was going to burn me one, with the z6 fuel maps, but I never heard from him after that, it was free so I did not pursue it further. Now if anyone want to do it for me, I'll pay for the chip.

Hell yeah, hey it works. I had a hard time to get that sucker to run good, I actually paid a Honda guy to help me do the swap, my first time I wanted someone that knew what they were doing. He could not get the car too run, So I told him ---- you and finished it myself, and I'm glad I did, after that I do all my work.

Well from what I have seen the power gains have to be either in ecu tuning or the cam. Everything else is the same. I had a sohc zc vtec back in my civic in 98 and nobody believed me then. Good old days.

 

i'd stick w/ a pm6 and use a vafc.

 

That's what I think I'll do, When I get a set of 450's I'll get a vfac and have it all tuned good.

is the car still NA if so u can put a vafc in now and when ur ready to (if u do) turbo, you can add the 450's and be good to go.
