Performance Intake Manifold Gaskets?
 

So far I haven't seen many bad things about using one of the hondata style intake mani gaskets. There are a couple on ebay who's quality I can't verify but I'm trying to figure out whether these block coolant as well or not. According to hondata, their's do. But I can't tell which of the holes is for what since I've never taken off my mani. Can anyone verify by the pics which of the holes is for what.

Also, has anyone ordered their gaskets from these guys? Are they just making holes in cutting boards or is this decent quality?

PS. They have an EGR / No EGR versions. Is there any bad side to disabling EGR?

Second question: No, stock gasket does the job just fine in my opinion.

Third question: I have no idea.

Fourth question: The EGR only sends like 5-15 percent of exhaust back into the intake. The EGR is there to help increase gasoline in engines via: Reduced throttling losses, Reduced heat rejection, and Reduced chemical dissociation. EGR is typically not employed at high loads because it would reduce peak power output, and it is not employed at idle (low-speed, zero load) because it would cause unstable combustion, resulting in rough idle. I don't really see a whole point in disabling it. So it's up to you. Just use a stock gasket in my opinion.

Inferno, thanks for the pic. That's exactly what I've been looking for. My main concern with EGR is that it gunks up the intake and chamber. I already found someone on here that had a spare one from a group buy so I'll be getting it from him. I don't know whether EGR is blocked or not on his. It really doesn't make that much of a difference to me. But down here in Miami, heat is a huge issue, so I'd like to keep my intake temps down. Aside from that I'll be running a sidemount ic and not a frontmount, so every other bit helps.

Well technically the EGR does make your temps cooler by intermixing the incoming air with recirculated exhaust gas dilutes the mix with inert gas, lowering the peak combustion temperatures. Because NOx formation progresses much faster at high temperatures, EGR serves to limit the generation of NOx. NOx is primarily formed due to the presence of oxygen and high temperatures. What you are referring to would result in lower exhaust temperatures (as well as engine), which while still is a concern, is not what I was considering. I was thinking about the intake temperatures and it's effect on the density of the charge air. I suppose it's a matter of performance vs. reliability (although some consider these to be the same thing ;) )

I have one I just put on my motor. I cut 2 tenths off my E.T.!! Yeah right, they are suppose to cut down on intake temps by 10 percent or so. I got it from AMkrew.

LOL, ya, that's who I'm getting it from. His last one apparently. It's pretty hot down here so every little bit helps. I'm not running a crazy setup and I want it to be reliable. So anything that helps performance w/o sacrificing reliability is a plus. :y

Yeah , its hot here too. 100's. As soon as he(AMkrew) got them, he told me to try it out. Seem to work well. I'll see if he is getting any more. for the people that live in the heat, this might be beneficial.

hondatas website has a write up as ( I belive) they are the one who invented those gaskets.

However I don`t THINK it is necessary on a DD, once the car sits in traffic the entire engine bay is going to heat up, and since you are in traffic anyway there shouldn`t be much room for you to go "vroom vroom" lol

If you look at hondata's charts this effect is greatly reduced by using this type of gasket.
