Paypal For You! ....if you solve this problem~~

Ok, So i have been helping a friend with his honda swap / turbo setup for a month or so.

Will Not Run!!!!!!!!!!!!!

97 EK hatch. Dx trim.
Engine Block: B18a1
Engine Head: B16 (off an early 90's civic?) we're not sure.
Intake Manifold: Skunk 2
TPS: stock off 97 civic 3 wire
IACV: came off 92 LS b18a. 2 wire. (car was 3 wire) Unplugged orange wire, and plugged 2 wires in
MAP sensor, GM 3 bar
Injectors: DSM 450's with inline 10w/10ohm resistors
Computer: Phearable.net P28 OBD1 chipped
Wiring harness: Stock 97 EK harness.

My last suspition is the distributor.

Things checked:
1...TPS (throttle position sensor), Perfect, reading .5 volts at closed throttle. No problems
2...IACV. Wires and plugs switched. Using iacv off 92 LS engine. Wires changed at ECU. A14 switched to A12. A13 disconnect. IACV voltage is correct. Direct power to IACV we can hear it click. IACV is working
3...GM 3 bar MAP. Wires are all correct. Signal, Positive, and Negative. voltage read, and correct for GM 3 bar. ECU is programed to read GM map.
4...Injector harnesses, reading voltage on all 4 plugs.

OBD1 computer.... OBD2 car... OBD0 engines/head
(*&#@*$)*% FKNG ----... i told him it wouldn't work....

Lets get it running.

Winner with a workign solution gets some paypal or free porn!!!!!!!

Did you check to see if you are getting fire with a plug out?

96ekdowork 05-12-2009 09:41 PM

ummm i would check the distributor im doing an obd0 motor, an obd1 ecu, in an obd2a car also... you may have to repin the dizzy for the obd2a harness.. you may also need an obd1 TB and a 4wire 02 sensor!

jeremiah963 05-13-2009 02:50 AM

what dizzy are you using? is the car converted to obd-1? are you getting fuel or spark?

ohsosikcivic 05-13-2009 06:53 AM

Hey guys,

Its actually my car, we might have figured out the issue last nite. we were "brainstorming" and realize i have a distributor from a 99-2000 civic SI, and my harness is reading obd1. and yes it is converted to awnser your question, So that MIGHT be the issue.... im gonna try and get my hands on one asap and check that out.

we are getting fuel and spark, we assumed the spark wasnt at the right time... the only time the car would idle is by throwing brake cleaner in the throttle body

balonyyy 05-13-2009 11:33 AM

on which wire do u have the inline resistors?
dizzy - make sure those wires are matching the correct colors, and have good contacts
- also cehck the cap and rotor
did u put the ground on by the thermostat ?
are your spark plugs in the right order?, look at it from the passenger side it should read
3 4
1 2

ohsosikcivic 05-13-2009 05:42 PM

cap and rotor are brand new. and as far as the distributor goes... does anyone have the right up on how to convert the obd2a harness to the obd1 harness? i have the nessacary plugs in order to do it. i just need the wiring diagram.

the thermostat is grounded yes I checked that.

I didnt realize the dizzy wasnt plug and play so we need the conversion harness write up ASAP! i know rywire sells it... but i really wana get this thing going tonight.

I did some reading. on other sites. some people said getting a new distributor wasnt nessacary. whats true about this.?

ohsosikcivic 05-13-2009 05:42 PM

oh ya... and the resistors are on the positive wires

txdohczc 05-14-2009 11:21 AM

make the conversion harness its not hard at all. look up the diagrahm for the civic ecu you have then look it up for the b16ecu your going to use and voila its done all you have to do is match the two

yes we know this.. Much easier said than done... we're still trying to figure it out. These wiring diagrams are not easy to find
So no paypal for you because you didn't help~

txdohczc 05-14-2009 02:08 PM

i did not want any paypal i was just trying to tell you how easy it is to make one. look up shop manuals online and get the two pinouts and go from there. it takes some time but is very simple. look at the top of this section there is a thread with alot of different shop manuals and also you can always goto vatozone and look in the haynes manuals and copy the pin outs on to paper worst comes to worst

ok hows this...

its out of the haynes manuals for 96-00 civic and also covers 94-01 integra
here are pics of the 2 clips i have... the wires arent the same colors, but im not sure if honda/acura ALWAYS uses the same colors for the same sensors

do i just match up the wires from sensor to sensor... like 1 to 1 and 2 to 2 if thats what it says in the manual?

the colors arent the colors of the wires... but just for refrence... should i do that?

and the bottom 2 go to a seperate smaller plug located on the dizzy as well

pretty much man you just look what each pin does and then match it to it respective place on the other connector. dont laugh at the picture it was a quick drawing to demonstrate not an actual guide.
each color equals a wire say blue equals oil pressure signal and yellow is injectors and so on and so forth
Attachment 8147

ohsosikcivic 05-14-2009 10:11 PM

no i realize you have to match the wires up to what does what... but because it gave a outline in the pictures i posted... of the diagram it said the 1 and 6 in the harnesses were int he same place. so i figure just wire them directly across

ohsosikcivic 05-15-2009 10:25 AM

so does anyone know where i can find a exact wiring diagram.... i put togather the wires i thought were correct and it didint start. a friend of mine told me... if that didnt work. maybe its your timing

BoostForLife 05-16-2009 11:00 PM

are you sure your spark plug wires are correct?
Are there any CELs?
Check the mechanical timing of the timing belt, it fucks ---- up as well.

next time you do a swap like this, get the motor to run on stock injectors/exhaust.

ohsosikcivic 05-17-2009 10:16 AM

it does spark yes... cause when we use brake cleaner in the throttle body to see if it was getting fuel... it ran... we think its just sparking at the wrong time... hence why we think it was the distributor...

if the cylinder isnt under enough pressure... ignition of the gas isnt gonna do anything. it prob has to do with the timing. im bringing it to someone who buys cars... does swaps and then sells them. this coming week. we'll see what happens. if not i might have alot of parts forsale on here that arent really considered used!

turbo750 06-03-2009 08:27 PM

did you use a obd2 dizzy or cut the plugs off a older one and try to make it work. start with the basics. timing, fuel, spark, and compression

FirezTheShi7 06-16-2009 08:51 PM

Stick a test light on your injector (+) wire, while cranking it over should blink as it fires. No blink no injection. My guess is there not firing cause you say it does run On Cleaner. If it runs well on spray gas they your not getting fuel even if you have pressure at the rail.

pojet14 06-20-2009 10:45 PM

are you use any after maket pump like walbro?

2BarRacing 06-20-2009 11:33 PM

also take a long flat blade and crank it over. stick the screwdriver to the injector and the other to your ear you should hear it clicking

rhtuner 07-08-2009 01:24 PM

yes

Civic311 08-06-2009 09:14 AM

Definitely sounds like a fuel issue if it runs on spray. Crank it over a few times and then pull a spark plug. If it's getting gas but no spark, the plugs will be a little wet. Bone dry if the opposite.

belowjobs 08-17-2009 09:52 AM

yo cracker, get msn, webcam or a ------- video. I'll get this pig up if its not runing yet.

loweg4dr 09-12-2009 06:23 AM

why did he use a obd-0 motor

joexiong 09-22-2009 10:07 AM
