Overheating

my cars got a z6 at 10-12psi
it overheats very quickly after 3 or 4 runs
could this be a head gasket problem? (not alligned properly)
cause i got the radiator checked and it seems ok
ive got 2 head gaskets in it (made the compression lower)
so wut could b the heating problem?
or are their any other possible factors?
thankx

Re: Overheating

t-stat sticking, fan not turning on, perhaps a leak, running low colent. theres lots of things you just need to go check it out instead of asking us. im not all that sure about double layering the headgasket causing it to overheat? maybe if you didnt install it right lol.

isn't that normal?

local built z6 16psi w/ eg half rad starts to overheat after a few runs :l

you got 2 head gaskets???? ok thats not good your engine will eat that up...if u want to lower compression that way your supposed to use a thicker head gasket...using 2 head gaskets on top of each other is a big no no

2 head gaskets. :l

have you looked at all of the small ----? t-stat, your rad. cap, coolant...always start simple when looking for problems. ;)

Two headgaskets have to be layered with a spacer between them. It's best just to get a Cometic or Mr Gaslet unit that is the thickness you want and just be done with it. This also skews your mechanical timing, so buy a cam gear and keep things ------- correct.

Overheating after a couple pulls = ignition timing. What the hell are you doing to that poor engine?

umm
im from a different part of the world
fan is direct so it starts as soon as the key is turned
their are no leaks
the cap and everything is ok
ive heard frum the locals tat the head should hav 2 gaskets in between it if yr rrunning boost
btw im using local gasket(ghetto)
heard they work fine
also my head is fazed (grinded)
ill try to install the original stuff and see if their is any differece

btw should the ign timing b retarted or advanced for the 12 psi???????????
and wut im doing with the engine? well im trying all my first experiments on it
im the only one in the state who has built a custom hmt kit

1st. thank god you're from another part of the world
2nd. i'd usually just pretend you didn't ask this, but since you're boosting on another planet, it needs to be retarded.
3rd. the only one, and hopefully the last haha.

yeah i think JD is onto something bout the double HG changing you cam/dizzy timing. Usually though you hear it adversley from when people mill the head/deck.

Re: Overheating

After the D16 that I couldn't turn the dizzy far enough to set ignition timing, I take mechanical timing seriously.
