one of my arp head bolts wont go all the way down

this is on my a6/z6 mini me. i installed the head wit hthe arp head stud, arp lube and 70lbs tq. car ran good, i hgooked up the radiator and oil started mixing with the oil. car ran all of 2 mins. so i pulled the head, decked the head and ordered a cometic head gasket. i took out all the bolts to clean the holes, some of them had moisture in them. i did this one by one returning all the bolts to there proper holes. but theone to the far left in the back sits 1/2 inch hight then all the others. i took it back out, cleaned it again, double checked the hole and it still dosent go down. when i go back outside ill pull that one out and another to check the length to see if there the same. i realy doubt the bolt streched 1/2 inch. anyone else have this issue?

Using z6 studs I assume?

I had to add some extra washers on the back left one, same one you're talking about. It's held fine for over 2 years, just get hardened washers to be safe.

That one has a shallower hole I think, because mine was like that too. I just nutted it down and away I went.

yeah mine is the same on my d15b2/y7 head combo. using the y7 head bolts it sits about a half inch higher as well. so i installed a b2 head bolt in its place and its fine. i thought it was wierd as well. must be something common on the d15's and d16a6 thats not like the z6 on.

wow, i dident know it was as wide spred. a couple of threads i looke up on h-t said i should run a tap down the hole. has anyone tried that? i wonder if that caused the coolant leak before i got the cometic gasket. well, if yall think it will be fin i am gonna throw the head on, cuz i dont have access or money for a tap

I once used z6 arp head bolts on a y8 block/z6 head combo
HELLO WASHER CITY
but it worked

I doubt you need to run a tap down the hole, you're hitting the bottom of it. Just run a bolt all the way down, clean it off and try again. If the bolt comes out clean you've hit bottom.

anyone have a picture of how much of the actual bolt shold be showing through nut on the "long" one. so ill know how many washers i need, if any.

Couldn't you just trim a 1/2 inch off the end of the bolt? Hacksaw FTW?

Why cut it? Why can't you just nut it with the bit sticking up? Is it in the way of the VC or something?

If you have the OEM Honda bolts and look at them you'll see one is shorter. It's just something in the design of the block I guess ARP overlooked. It shouldn't really matter though. I didn't even use washers I just nutted it with the bit sticking up. I don't have any problems that I know of but I guess I could have tiny leaks or some ----. I don't know I don't feel like taking the head off to look.
