OMG, I hate the crank pulley bolt!!!
I'm in the process of doing some repairs on my friend's '90 civic DX, and installation of new seals requires removal of the damn crank pulley. I've dealt with this before on my ZC, and it took me about 7 hours, 4 trips to home depot, lots, and lots of cursing to get it off...that was while the engine was on a pallete. This time, it's in the car. I've seen a number of creative ways to how to lock down it down, but they all don't seem to be very reliable, and I'm ready to break down and buy a tool for this purpose. I haven't had any luck finding one so far...does anyone own or know of a tool for this purpose, or a sound method of locking this damn pulley down so I can get it off? I've used air tools with no success, so that's not an option. Thanks, -Z

When I changed my timing belt on my old DX I had the same problem, We ended up stuffing rope down the # 1 cylinder til the piston came up and it and causeing the crank not to turn, and then with a power handle and a pipe we got that sucker loose didn't damage anything either

um mr8 did you ever live in the projects that was the stupidest thing ive ever heard somone do.
if you need to take the crank pully off go rent air tools if you dont have them or you could try one of those electric impacts but id stick with air.

My gun is rated around 550ft lbs, but we have a great air source, 2 huge compressors, and nice lines.
I am looking to get a composite style IR gun, they are very lightweight and have lots of power. (not to mention they are not very noisy)
