oil pump shimming
as many pry know i had rod bearing failure on one of my cars. I did a little research and the older d series oil pumps flow almost 12gal/min quite a bit of flow now if i shim the pump to make slightly more pressure do you think it will force a little more oil film on the bearings? whats strange is that this is the second time i have lost the no1 cyl rod bearing due to lack of oil. the first time it was on my d16 powerd track car. now this luckly i heard the slightest knock and thought it was deto so i lifted and then my oil light came on.

whats your oil pressure normally run at ? high pressure is not as essential for rods as a high volume of cool oil and if the big end has seen some heat there is a good chance they are no longer round. I always have the big ends done on any motor I build it's just cheap insurance against rod bearing failure.
