oil pump?

okay I heard of shimming it? how you do this? Building my ls should i even worry bout it? will the stock pump be fine the way it is? or just throw a vtec pump on?

Re: oil pump?

Shimming the relief spring will allow higher oil pressures than stock, i would just run a vtec pump, i believe they are higher volume than standard LS pumps

Re: oil pump?

I've done it before, I put 2 shims under the pressure spring, about the thinkness of 2 pennies. It was about 5-6psi higher. But I also do suggest running a vtec pump.
