Re: oil pump
Now I don't know for sure because I never owned one, but I THOUGHT that I heard those oil pumps were pretty weak. I don't know if you can use one from a Z6, but I think there are ways to mod the Y8 pump to flow better. I'm sure someone esle will chime in here. BTW, you should've posted this in hybrid/tech. It may get moved.

Re: oil pump
I believe you can use the z6 pump, but you will loose the dipstick. I honestly dont know how you could go without a dipstick but some do it.

Re: oil pump
ok i've been ------ searching as fast as i can. the y8 and z6 have the same psi but the z6 flows better. the reason y8 spin bearings is because the y8 isn't flowing enough. so i think i'm going to have the oil pump taken out before the engine goes in and i'm going to port it out and add a shim. from the things i've read it's not hard just takes some time.

thats the spirit!

Re: oil pump
I opt for the z6 oil pump, pan and pickup. You lose the dipstick, but if you change and monitor your oil levels right it won't be an issue.
