Default Oil Leak... PLEASE HELP!!!

Well i took the whip out tonight for a little 20 mile spin, into town then back. I noticed that I am dripping like one drop of oil every two feet when I go like parking lot speed. I opened the hood up knowing there would be a leak, and my tranny is pretty well covered in oil. It seems like its coming out of the valve cover. I already know my oil pan leaks a bit, but thats getting fixed on a different day.

My valve cover gasket is pretty well shot, if I replace it, will the valve cover leak stop?

Also, how tight do those bolts have to be?

yes if you get a new gasket it will fix the problem. They dont need all that much pressure or they will break off. just make them snug.

Sounds good. A mechanic friend just stopped in and that seems to be the diagnosis. Sounds like a trip to Advanced Auto tomorrow...

I had oil on my tranny too, and it was the distributor o-ring, do both since it's only like a buck or so, and it should stop for sure...

good luck

your screwed. you can try to tap it out or try and put the cover on w/o that bolt, just leave the rest of hte bolt in the hole so no oil gets out. I know someone running without the 2 bolts on the intake side of the cover and its fine so far (hes been running it that way for about 5 months)

if you decide to replace the dizzy o-ring make sure you remember how the thing that goes into the cam was pointed, you can put it on 180 degrees in the wrong direction.
