Default oil control jet for mini-me

i have been reading this other www site and the guy said to take out the oil control jet on the stock d16a6 bottom end when u do a mini-me setup. when you remove the jet, it is supposed to make it so that vtec engages more reliably. with the oil control jet in place, the oil pressure is too high and makes the vtec engage whenever. has anyone ever done this, or know if this is true?

here is a link:

You need to take it out.. A VTEC Head has its own oil control jet in the head.. If you dont Oil press. will be high and VTEC may not work..

not only do you have to remove the jet, but you have to plug that hole left over with a plug!

D-series you just remove the oil oriface jet off the deck and thats it, vtec solinoid does the rest.

B-series doesnt even have that oil control jet, you just plug one of the oil feeds in the head with a 1/8npt plug or weld it up.

yah thats what i was thinking. remove the oil jet out of the LS block and plug it. jet orfice whatever.
damn it there alot of ls/vtec/minime crap goin around right now i got myself all confused.

Jeff, on your LSvtec you made 175 NA right? I'm guessing no1 will see that unless they use the TB, IN mani and ECU you used?? We should expect more around 140-150 right?

Actually their is no oriface jet on the B-series blocks like D-series, just need to plug the head off.

you could probably make that kind of power, just need a good set of cams and pistons, mine were just stock. That intake really only helps out when forced induction comes into play.
