OBDII -> OBDI conversion/AUTO tranny Q
Ok, this is really getting on my nerves. I have been working on a Y7/8 mini-me conversion for a guy. After getting the knock sensor problem figured out (see this thread for more info: https://www.homemadeturbo.com/forum/...7022#msg527022 ) He purchases the ECU and the conversion harness and I installed the stuff today, did the three->two wire IACV conversion and fire it up, get a CEL...WTF. I jumper the wires under the dash to check codes and it is a code 19 which is lockup control solenoid. Now I realized when I was plugging the conversion harness in that there was no provision for plug "D" which I believe is only on the auto obd2 cars. I have not driven the car to see if there are any driveability issues, but damn it, I thought this was going to work....everybody said "switch to OBDI it will solve all the problems" Bah, any suggestions? :-\

Re: OBDII -> OBDI conversion/AUTO tranny Q
Well, thought I would give a little more info. Never drove the car with it set-up as described, why......because without that plug physically plugged into the ecu, the transmission does not work. It will not even shift from park to reverse. So, I had to reverse everything back, disconnect the VTEC stuff and put the P2E ecu back in :-\ Don't know how I am going to correct this other than convince him to convert the car to manual.
With that in mind, can only a d-series tranny from 96 -> 00 be used on the Y7 block, or can I use one from earlier years. I figure I will just end up converting his auto p28 that he bought to manual and chipping it because he eventually wants to go turbo anyway. |
Re: OBDII -> OBDI conversion/AUTO tranny Q
hahah just get a knock sensor and be done with it
---- converting if its that much of a hastle cuz u probably have to repin some auto wires from the plug u dont use unless of course ur getting paid by the hour to be doing all this |
