Default OBD2 Civic issues

99 civic.. Im pretty sure its a california emissions model. The d16y8 thru a rod, and i put a d16 from japn in.

Car hast run perfect since, and now is getting worse

Runs lean , and now has cylander misfire in 2 and 4.

I think either it needs a new catalytic converter.. which is the expensive california modle bull ----, or needs new injectors. Posibly could need a diffrent ecu to match the new engine ---- if i know.

If i were to buy injectors should i get injecots to match the d16y8 ecu or should i get inectors to match the engine. iv tried putting in other injectors i had lyin around but it dose crazzy ---- and wont go in to vtech or rev over 5500.

Any help or ideas would be great.. i can build a 12 second civic Daily driver with my eyes closed , but cant fix this stock pos... ---- OBD2 BS.

I think it might be an ECU prob with them not lining up right, but I could be very wrong.

Whats the chance the plug wires are off? Is the new motor from an obd1 car or obd2 car if obd2 is it a or b, I know some have a crank angle sensor and some have a cam angle sensor in the distrubitor. Could possibly be be something to do with that.

Its an obd2 motor to obd2.
I thought ecu as well, but it semes that it is the same ecu for all of the models, even the california. Im going to do some more trouble shooting. switch injectors around see if i get misfires in oposit cyliders.. this car is a cluster ----.. d16y8 cars FTMFL

ok, have you checked to see which OBD2 it is? I believe there is 2 diff kinds like DraginX said. OBD2a, and OBD2b. I think thast plays a role in engine manegement but I could be wrong so anyone who has more knowledge on this, pls chip in.

And p0170 is a fuel trim code. Possibly PCM. Take it to a garage and tell em you want them to figure it out. I wouldn't pay more then 2 hrs labor.

find a manual on line and do the troubleshooting flow chart for this code. honda manuals are sweet for their flowcharts. all you need is a multimeter and an hour or so.
