OBD1 OBD2 question
 

So what is the difference really? Is it just the head or does an obd2 block have sensors that an obd1 doesn't have. The reason I'm asking is cause my 92 dx block is knocking and I wanna get a newer 1.6 longblock then put my 92 dx head on it. If I do this will I have to worry about the obd2 problem still?

nah, all the old sensor plugs still work on a newer block but why not just get the whole engine off the D16Y7? Or the D15B7? There not that expensive.

Yeah that is what I meant. the whole 99 longblock and replace it with my 92 head since it is a obd1 head. So if I get a 99 DX long block it should work with my 92 harness?

yeah but you will need to use the D15 intake to make life simpler. The IACV on teh 96+ DX motors is a pain in hte ass and is wired like an auto for some damn reason (3 wires VS the 2 wire IACV you have on your car now). You will have extra plugs and will have to use the D15 dizzy for the D16Y8 uses a diffrent connector. You will also have to use your altinator you have currently and any other pumps you have on the car now. I am not sure about the motor mounts but i 'think' they are in the same place. Make sure you use the motor mount on the D15 motor and adapt it to the D16Y7 for the engine mount is diffrent and is wider so it will not fit in the earler civics (at least i dont think it will). When i have used a D16Z6 mount it is a little shorter than the mount i havein my car now (97 del sol s D16Y8 engine orignally). the tranny should bolt up fine. You can get away with using the D16Y7 dizzy if you cut the harness and splice the wires on the dizzy to fit the 2 plug OBD1 harness (OBD 2 has it all into 1 connector, the color codes are the same as an OBD 1 car as far as i can tell).Made teh conversion harness for Chackos car;) heh

Well actually this is my wife's car and it is automatic. I'm not building for race or anything I just want it to run right. Well I understannd why I have to use the distributor and intake manifold now, thanks but why the alternator?

Oh yeah it does have a plug too. I forgot about that. Thanks for all your help.
