No oil pressure on engine after rebuild!!!
Alright.. the problems just don't stop my 240 ka-t
I'm going to go through the chronology of things and then get to the problem The first time trying to fire the car up it doesn't fire.. it turns over in a clunk... clunk clunk... clunk.... clunk clunk sound, but it has since gone away and the pistons and head still look good. After trying to start it I noticed a huge puddle of oil was coming out from between the engine and tranny. Dropped the tranny and realized the ------- machine shop pulled a plug for the oil galley and didn't tell me or give me another. plugged the hole and put it back together. tried to start it again and finally after fixing my timing it runs. Once it started I looked at my oil press. gauge and it wasn't reading anything at all... like mayb 7 lbs. I shut it off immediately. pulled the turbo feed line.. it was dry... cranked the car for a while... still dry I read on a 240 board that some people had the same problem and it was some o-ring in the front cover. others said it was the oil pickup gasket. I dropped the oil pan (sucks balls on 240's) and checked the oil pickup... it's fine. The oil pump should be fine.. the motor was pulled running. so what am I missing? the one catch I can't get over is that I had oil pressure at one point in time!!! there is some oil in the turbo return.. and it had to fly out of the oil galley hole somehow. so besides plugging the hole why would the oil pressure go bye bye? |
Re: No oil pressure on engine after rebuild!!!

Is the spot your getting your oil pressure reading good? you shut the car off immediatly? let it run for a min or so to see if the pressure builds up. |
Re: No oil pressure on engine after rebuild!!!
.. ------- machine shop pulled the front oil galley plug too.. so the pump was just pumping back into the pan basically...

Re: No oil pressure on engine after rebuild!!!
lol, nothing like pulling the trans and the front cover once the engine is already in the car.
Always gotta check the galley plugs ;) |
