new altenator not work...

i just bought a new altenator for my b16a1 that i've already installed, plus i also bought a new battery as well like 2 days ago and it died on me just awhile ago while i was driving on the street...the plug for the altenator is already pluged in, the power wire is also screwed on, as well the belt...does anyone know what might be the problem. oh yea the altenator was for a OBD0 integra, can that be the case? NEED HELP ASAP!!!!!!!!

no thats not the problem. You may have some sort of ground problem or the altenator you got was bad. Go to the Zone and test it to make sure

Take a volt meter and check the output at the battery.

Re: new altenator not work...

today i went to autozone to exchange the alt. they tested it and it was still good, but i got a new one anyways and i've already installed just awhile ago, but when i turn on the engine it was making a loud squeaking noise...i guess the belt wasn't on tight enough, ooh yea the pulley on the alt. was also hitting the body frame (don't know why?) and torned my belt up..so now my car is just sitting outside waiting for a new belt but i'm about to go work so im gonna have to work on it tomorrow.........

Re: new altenator not work...

Heres something most people dont check.. even incluidng myself. Last night I worked on a gsr/civic hatch, alternator was putting out 9.8 volts which normally means it needs a new alternator. I swapped alternators and it didnt fix it, I didnt take the time to check to see if the alternator was getting 12+ volts (on the round/square plug) So using a test light make sure your alternator is getting power, otherwise it wont put out any. If your not getting power check the "alternator spool" fuse under the dash. It should be a 5/7.5 or 10amp fuse. Good luck =)

and the problem with the belt..

just get a smaller belt so it pulls the alt in enough that it will clear the frame.
