new ----!
but dont forget the previous thread. I was thinking, about surching for a b18 block, or crank which comes first, will gsr block match b16 head? will b18 crank fit b16 block?, what if its a ls block what all I need? can I use p28 ecu chipped?

what you have a b18 block? the kinda defeat the since the answer was it will not work, I wanna do the right thing but dont want to over spend, maybe I just buy the b16 rods and return b18 rods tell the store they sold me the rong ones for refund.

yes, a b16 head can go on a b18 block, don't you know what lsvtec is?? you can't use the crank in a b16 block, but i have one i'll sell you if you want one

Re:new ----!
no, no, no. you can put a b16 head on any b series block (b17,b18,b20). however, you can't just take a b18 crank and put it in a b16 block. i was saying i have a b18 crank. you could find a bare b18 block, i'll have everything else you need for the shortblock (the block has a hole in it, but everything else is good).

Re:new ----!
since I'm in Germany its gonna cost me a *** load of money to get the b16 block prepped for the 81.5mm pistons, so I'm now looking for a b18 block, the thing that puzzled me about the ls vtec is the oil line setup, and the ecu that will work, I only see p72 used, but I have a p28 and dont intend to by another ecu, so will p28 work? I read the fact on ls vtec and it has a no oil line, as I say I dont have much support on the machining side of things. do I need a differnt tranny, timing belt, engine mount etc?

Re:new ----!
yeah, a p28 will work. it just has to be a dohc vtec ecu which is the same obd. the oil lines, you just run a feed off the sender, just like for a turbo, but you feed it to the head. you also have to plug off the original oil feed on the bottom of the head since the head won't be getting oil from the vtec compatable block. there is a little bit of machine work involved, but nothing serious at all

Re:new ----!
By putting a B16 head on a GSR block, you have a different kind of LS VTEC engine. A guy in Toronto makes them, he has a wicked drag civic that does 10's. That is a TURBO B18C1 block with B16B heads, eagle rods, endyn pistons, girdle upgrade and sleeves.
If you can I highly recommend you do that. The R/S is better, you have oil passages, girdle, and oil squirters.
