need some opinions on oil for new motor

im about a week away from putting my Z6 back together, maybe a little more, and i want to hear from some people on what oils there running

the stuff i want to run cost's $10 a quart :o its sold by a machine shop i trust and has been tested in drag queens for over 1500 miles on the same oil with great results

but i wanna hear what you guys are running and why, what weight, what brand, syn. or non, etc and why.. the why is very important :P

also anyone have any tips to save me a headache while putting the bitch back in the car? ;D i'd prefer not to have to beat it into submission

just so you guys know, heres my setup

D16Z6, stock bore, approximately 8.5:1 compression
Vitara pistons
Eagle rods
ARP head studs
P&P head
ACL main and rod bearings
8lb flywheel with stage 4 six puck clutch
RC 550 injectors
AEM Uego wideband
P28 with a crome basemap from xenocron
and a new (to me) garret turbo with HPC coating, 50/63

thoughts, opinions, insight, bullshit, all is welcome ;D would prefer helpful comments though, lol

Re: need some opinions on oil for new motor

I run regular Castrol GTX 10w30. Why? It's cheap and because that is what the factory reccomends (They actually reccomend 5w30, but it doesn't get that cold here). I also change my oil a lot (every 1,500 miles or less sometimes). I also have a shitty T3 turbo and stock motor, if I had a $1,000 ball bearing turbo or sleeved motor with forged internals I would look into synthetic oil. For your setup I would just stay with regular Castrol GTX 5w30 and change it a lot. ::honda-tech thumbup::

i was hopeing you'd respond, i'll be running non synthetic for breakin but i havent decided afterwards.. its gotten as cold as -12 here last winter but the summer is practicly 112

i've spent alot more on this motor then i planned so i want it to last me untill im ready to move up, im ---- about my oil as well, usaly every 2000 miles or so but got pretty lax on it when i knew my old motor was gonna give soon

also, the turbo i have is oil and water cooled.. would the water help at all cooling things down? i thought about just leaveing it plugged like it is because i dont wanna spend anymore on what i'd need to hook it up (plus i dont know what i'd need) :-[

thanks for the input on oil ;D

use non detergant oil. i think thats what honda recommends. look in theoldone.com for basic d series build and break in procedures.

On a fresh honda motor i fill up with regular castrol GTX 10w30 Start the car and get your bugs workout without driivng.
Change oil regular castrol gtx 5w30 for 500miles
After that 5w30 Mobile 1 full syn every 2000miles.
