Need some info....
 
Ok so i picked up a 96 civic with a sohc vtec in it.I was looking at pulling the head and having a buddy of mine port an polish the head and while it's off i wanna throw a cam in and a new valve train.What would u guys rec. based off experiance?i heard the Zex cam is pretty decent for daily driving but i want some ffed back.Same with valves,springs, an retainers.N e info would be appreciated.

It's a sohc, screw messing with the head just put a turbo on it and if it's slow turn up the boost. Touching a sohc head is a big waste of time.

Actually on a Y8 there's plenty of flow to be had, and reducing pumping losses always means more power to the wheels.

Like 2 more hp, a lb of boost will net a bunch more than that ;)

Depending on what your doing you can see airflow gains in the 15-20% range even higher on highly tuned race engines.

don't mess with upgrading the valvetrain in a sohc, it takes quite a bit to get some big gains out of it, cause of the intake only vtec, like stated previoulsy, turbo that ----, you'll get way more gains than a stinkin' zex cam will give ya.

What if i throw some nitrous in the mix? I got a 75 shot of nitrous i have just sitting in my garage.

Turbo does sound better actually, i was just curious as to how much power can be brought out of a sohc vtec motor with a few tweaks here an there.

Probably 800 or so with the right oil filter
