Default need quick reply: installing autometer water temp sender

I was gonna put the autometer sender where the stock one was, but of course it doesn't fit. Nothing is easy! Where do you guys have the sender installed?

get a piece of pipe and put it in line of the rad hose, then just drill and tap that.

Thanks. That would work. I'd like to install it tonight though, and I don't have a piece of pipe. I've got a d16a6 and I was thinking of removing the bleed bolt from the housing in the front of the motor and drilling out the housing and running a 1/8 npt tap over it. I don't know if the bleed bolt is very useful anyway. I think it would work. Has anyone done this?

In my first post I removed the thermosensor from the side of the head. I thought it was the sending unit for the stock temp gauge. But, now I realized that the sending unit for the stock coolant temp gauge is also in the side of the head, but with the distributor in the way you can't really see it. I looked with a mirror and it is there under the distributor next to the thermosensor but higher up on the head. So maybe the autometer sender will fit there. I'm gonna go find out.
