my zc runs crappy
 

hi. im new here, but i think its an awesome site, ive been reading at homemade turbo for a long time. i got a question. i installed my zc in my standard '90 hatch a while back, and i put a used 89 'teg distributer on it. 6 months later, it stops runnin good, then it stops runnin at all. once in a great while (maybe once every 20 tries) it starts, then it runs like its bogging bad, chugs, and dies. i replace everything (cap, rotor, wires, fuel filter, etc. i have a spare set of injectors for it, im gonna throw those in, and i checked all the wires i ran for the swap. nothing. any idea what it might be? i have spark, but it doesnt seem to be that strong. i bought an msd blaster cap and coil, would that maybe fix it? i cant work on it now, im at college, just wondering what it might be. thanks, sorry about the long post....adam jabaay

Are you getting any codes? Do you have another distributor you can test to see if this problem goes away? Hondas are pretty notorious for distributor problems. Bad wires/plugs/cap rotor usually will just give you a "miss" is that whats going on?

hey jeff, thanks for responding, i loved your old website man....great stuff. i'm not getting any codes. i dont understand this whole thing. its really weird. i think it might be the igniter, so i bought the msd cap and coil, but since i wont be home till later this week, i wont know if its that. it the coil is burned out on the distributer, would an aftermarket coil fix that? thanks..adam

I had this on my d16a9 .... swapped the ignitor in the dissy then the prob went away.... some people say you can clean the ignitor but i have my doubts.

The old website is www.homemadeturbo.com I just switched severs, so I figured I might freshen up the old web pages, and try to fix all my spelling errors ::)

Right now everything is down, so you cant see the pages..

It should be pretty soon, this ---- just takes so god damn long! I hate html

if i add an aftermarket ignition coil, will that take the place of the igniter? like i said, i have one sitting at home, ready to install when i get back from college. how do i install an aftermarket coil? ive never read an install article, and im sure it has instructions with it (msd blaster cap with coil), but any tips? thanks

p.s. jeff, is your race zc turbo project runnin? did you ever run the fully built zc at the track with the cool turbo and custom manifold? that ---- was SOOOOOOO pimp.....seriously, your little bad ass crx and the fully built zc are the reason i bought my zc for my hatch this summer. your ---- rules man....keep up the good work. if you guys are ever in chicago and need anything, let me know

heh thanks, everyone keeps asking me that one.. Nope, the car is in a deep deep coma at the momment in storage, we never did run it with the new setup. I just got my LS/Vtec Done in my Daily driver, and I am going to turbo it very soon. No worries though, the built zc will be up and running early spring.

yeah ,let us know about the built zc, i loved the intake and beautiful custom exhaust manifold. stuff my dreams are made of.
