My B18 Rebuild (Questions)

Ok so I have this thing sitting around, what I plan to do is just change the crank oil seals, take out the pistons, hone it out, get B16 pistons throw on a set of new rings and call it a day, I will plastiguage the bearings and if they are fine should I just reuse them or buy new ones? I dont want to risk a fucked bearing again, the engine has 300,000kilomiters on it, so about 180,000 miles but I heard it run before I pulled it out and it ran great, no blow by, strong compression and such.

so let me know about the bearings guys.

You're already in there, the car has 300k km, change the bearings.

Unless you're doing a nigga rebuild then in that case, leave them as is.

with your luck on bearings, id say reuse them, and torque it down a few extra lb's

that motor "lsvtec" has to be the best and most ideal frank/honda motor for either all motor or turbo. its the ----.

agreed.. the most i would do to the bottom end is swap the rod bolts for ARP's.

Re: My B18 Rebuild (Questions)

I've heard alot of bad stories about the ls/vtecs though...oil pressure problems, people over revving them thinking it's a b16, lack of oil squirters firing at the pistons to help cool them and such. Anybody ever had any of these problems? I just helped one of my friends swap an ls into his 90 hatch, and now he's thinking about throwing the b17 head from his gsr on it too, even though i told him not to...just another can of worms to open up ::)

And throw in some Tuner toys rods, ok so on that note whats the max boost the B18 pistons should handle? i'm thinking if I do go turbo, tune it for 12 psi with TT rods.
