I have the same set. I have the fronts installed. Waiting till next week for the rear. Noticeably stiffer already and buzzy inside.

for me, the $3.99 polyeurethane tube from lowe's hardware works great. I used 1 1/2 tubes.

Re: motor mount inserts

i see they give you the torque mount ones and the rear one. I dont run the front mounts so i just plan on doing it to the main three mounts. how the hell do you guys put the rear one in. ive been thinking about it and it seems like it would be a huge pain in the ass.

Re: motor mount inserts

disconnect the rear mount from the motor and remove the center bolt. Obviously with a jack under it. I did this once already and it wasn't that bad.

Re: motor mount inserts

I like the inserts better than the 3M ----. I don't know why, but I think it makes for a smoother ride. The window weld ---- rattled twice as much and I don't really notice one being any better than the other. I guess it comes down to price and quality of ride.

And it is pretty easy to remove the window weld if you want to... I gave it a few hacks with a razor blade and it pulls right apart.

I love my ES inserts in my hatch but then again I'm only rolling a NA d15b but still it's like 100x's better. My car is stripped out so it's already noisy so I didn't really notice anything besides just alil more vibration.

Re: motor mount inserts

I bought the Prothane insert kit and installed them last night on the mounts.

Motor isn't in the car yet though but I really like these inserts, I used some Poly in there as well as the inserts just to make sure everything was sealed up. you can definetly see it will make a big difference.

Next step, install all these bushing from the ES hyper flex kit..FUN! :-\

I'm rocking the ES monts, I dig them, for they are pretty cheap. Easy and quick install, no dry time... definately helps wheel hop...

prothane's are the same type of insert and just as easy to install, but MUCH stiffer, i've had the two side by side for comparison and felt like an ass for wasting money on the es one's. i believe the prothane's are even cheaper as well.

Re: motor mount inserts

use the ES, only need the rear set, also the worst to install!!!!!!!!!

The fronts just make the car vibrate..........so bad parts fall off!!!!!!!!!

FITV backs out also.

No wheelhop, no more missed 3rd gear either.

Jays91DXhatch 04-22-2005 08:58 AM

Re: motor mount inserts

The rear AND the front mounts handle the torque, I'm not sure why you wouldn't want to do the front.. :S

I just finished all mine yesterday, can't wait to get them on the car and get the motor in. P.S. It's much easier to get at the rear mount when there's no motor in the car. ;)

yeah, i'm sure everyone runs urethane mounts b/c they like parts to fall off and fitv's to back out ::) lol, maybe you should put your car together better if you're having those problems :)

haha, owned. (bbka's been running solid poly jimfabs for a long time, nothings fallen apart)

so yeah i got the front two inserts in today, mickey mouse ---- that slips over the rubber and has ziptie holder things.

BUT, they work. Drivers mount was completely broken , had to put the bushings in and then re-insert the center piece. Passenger was ready to break, lots of cracks thru the rubber n stuff. Got the two put back in and they feel alot more solid, vibration isnt too bad really, and i can feel that i have more traction at a launch from them putting the ole '86 on the hop.

review - these get a good woo woo

Re: motor mount inserts

OK, give it some time.

FITV screw will back out, causing idle issues. The vibrations from the front mounts and headlights that go bad often.

But then again, I've had mine for 6+ years.

that's the stupidest ---- i've heard. i know tons of people running inserts (including myself), and billet mounts with no issues other than some in car vibration of course. you seriously need to use some thread lock or something if your cars falling apart from inserts ::)
